how to play:
any group of two people or more take pieces of paper big enough to write a poem. find a word to start with by listening to a song or opening a book and everyone starts writing using the first word. then as everyone writes people take turns saying words that everyone else then uses in their poems. you can write about anything and you're done when your done. then exchange and read. you'll notice common themes but it's fun to see the words used differently.
examples:
worry is my mother
though she is also laughter.
complex in an idea but it is still true to us
because we choose it to be.
i could play forever with the memory of those i love
as we circle each other
1...2...3...
we'd worry ourselves sick and ave to sleep on it.
a way to forget the dreary thoughts we'd made.
we'd also forgotten how to jump rope and hopscotch.
i used to love tuesdays and now i love thursdays.
so long, you aid,
before the heart
of the conversation
could begin to unravel.
the sun continued
to light up a
small portion
of the universe
as it has done
for the last few million
millenia.
so long is what you
say when you'd rather
not say good-bye,
when you know your
heart will hurt while
this person is away
and this conversation
won't last forever.
good-bye is a scary
dark place you'd rather
not look toward
while your friend is
so long and far away.
every second of our lives is light.
we have the ability to fill a room like liquid.
we move according to laws but live a life of pleasure.
we know how to smile.
every second is filled with immeasurable possibilities.
how surreal, then is this liquidity of life--
that things must be meant to be the way they are
(as this pleasure could have been an infinite number of other truths.)
i read to better understand how other people have experienced this world;
to more appreciate those who thing different thoughts or who can write about the way i remember i felt about some moment. listen:
the world is talking.
i read in the paper that you're doing well and think of my experiences with you,
the past we shared and i remember how the rights and lefts seem very similar now.
how moving is like stopping and the world is mine.
